Gameplay: Destruction on a Massive Scale
Rampage is a side-scrolling action game that puts you in control of gigantic monsters with one objective—destroy everything in sight. As George, Lizzie, or Ralph, you climb and smash buildings while avoiding military forces that try to stop you. The goal of each level is to completely demolish the city while surviving the onslaught of helicopters, tanks, and soldiers who attempt to take you down.
The game’s structure is simple: move from city to city across the United States, leveling buildings and eating helpless citizens to replenish health. You can also destroy helicopters, boats, and vehicles in your path. While it might sound repetitive, the chaos is part of the fun, especially when playing with a friend in co-op mode.
Despite the destruction, there’s some strategy involved. Buildings can be destroyed from the bottom up or by climbing and smashing from the top, and players must balance damage-taking with eating the right objects (such as food) to regain health. With each stage becoming progressively harder, the challenge of surviving the increasing military resistance keeps the action engaging.
